What are the Prohibited Uses of vehicles in Rent A Car Club?
Only approved Rent A Car Club drivers can book and drive a car while it is under a booking. Engaging in any Prohibited Uses will eliminate any coverage for the renter for any claims related to the physical damage of the car and will also affect the third party liability coverage of our policy.
Prohibited vehicle uses and activities include:
- Permitting non approved Rent A Car Club drivers to drive a Rent A Car Club vehicle. Right now, we accept only the hirer as an approved driver or the second named driver on the rental agreement;
- Allowing the Rent A Car Club vehicle to be pushed or towed by anyone other than an authorized law enforcement or service vehicle;
- Making any alterations, additions or improvements to any vehicle.;
- Smoking in the car;
- Fuelling the Rent A Car Club vehicle with an improper type of fuel;
- Use to tow or push anything;
- Use in any race, pacemaking, competitions, rallies, track days, trials or speed tests whether on the road, track or off-road;
- Use with the intention to cause damage, or with wanton, wilful, or reckless disregard for safety;
- Use to carry persons or property for hire, such as a taxi or parcel delivery service. You may, however, use the car for business purposes, such as attending meetings and carrying associated materials;
- Use unless a reservation has been booked. Using Rent A Car Club vehicles without reservations or outside your reservation time constitutes unauthorized use;
- Use during or due to use in the commission of a crime or any other illegal activity or purpose;
- Use under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit or any drug or medication under the effects of which the operation of a vehicle is prohibited or not recommended;
- Use when it has been loaded beyond its rated capacity or with more passengers than the vehicle has seat belts;
- Use without a valid license, or if the renter does not meet our eligibility requirements. It is the renter’s responsibility to inform us when his or her license is expired or suspended;
- Use to transport any flammable, toxic, volatile, poisonous, dangerous or illegal substances;
- Use to transport a pet outside of a pet carrier that keeps all pet hair inside the carrier;
